A wonderful experience in the tropics *****
" We are still impressed with the beautiful island of Exuma where we spent a week. Local people are very, very friendly and the beaches the most secluded we have ever seen. We really have no words to explain what a wonderful experience we had and how sad we felt when we left Gail at her door and we head to the airport!!! Don & Gail's house is a great place to relax and have a wonderful time. The view is magnificent and the house is beautiful. You have to rent a car to go to the beaches that are wonderful with white sand an the most aqua color sea you'll ever put your eyes upon. We promise Gail we would be going again next year and stay at her house. We encourage everybody to go to Exuma and stay at Don and Gail fervently and absolutely!!"
Heaven on Earth*****
"What a wonderful place! We had a great week at Harbour View. Exuma is such a beautiful island with its many private beaches and crystal clear waters. Don and Gail are perfect hosts and they will assist you in any way possible. I don`t have anything to add to the other great reviews, they are all true. Hope to return soon!"
"Fabulous Vacation" *****
"We enjoyed a wonderful 10 day vacation at Harbour View. Don and Gail were the perfect hosts, there with help and advice when required but sensitive to ensuring that we enjoyed a peaceful and private vacation. The views are simply stunning, and the accommodation very comfortable. It was great to have use of the kayak, in order to explore beautiful area. We can't wait to return!"
"" A gem in paradise!*****
A single traveler, I stayed at Harbour View at the end of august. Despite a few days of bad weather (thanks to tropical storm Isaac) my stay was fabulous. First of all, the house is gorgeous. A breathtaking view from the deck welcomed me to the house. Sunrise and sunset views, watching the tide come and go, and listening to the peace and serenity of the wind and water. Star gazing on the deck at night, and a zen-like bedroom, with a million dollar view, the house is located in the most quiet and idyllic spot on the island -- only 15 minutes from town, and 10 minutes from the most amazing beaches on Little Exuma. A lovely kayak and dock are a short walk (less than 2 minutes), and a nice spot for a dip in the water. Gail and Don are the nicest hosts, checking in on me to make sure all was ok, making me feel I was at home, and delightful and assuring that I made the right choice to stay at Harbour View. The house is well equipped with what you need for a comfortable stay. I look forward to my next trip back to Harbour View! Thanks Gail and Don!
"Harbourview Exuma - almost too good to be true!" *****
An incredible property on the exotic island of Exuma, Bahamas! The view from the bed every morning (or during my frequent mid-day flops onto the king size mattress) was breathtaking. Bright green palm trees, Caribbean teal waters, contrasted by snowy white sandbars (particularly at low tides) create an unforgettable scene. A massive patio complements the bay door entrance to the second storey unit. Two washrooms, Direct TV (so you don't miss any of your favourite shows), a futon, and kitchenette with all of the necessities (coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, fridge, sink, all utensils). All you need to do is make a pit stop at the market in Georgetown en route to Harbourview and you'll be set for the week (oh and by the way - Gail and Don will provide you with directions and all preparatory information through email before you arrive). Your hosts have also created a binder of need-to-know information for venturing around the island - hidden beach entrances, restaurants, etc. I took this binder with me in my rental car on the days I went exploring and it was all I needed. They are also willing to make calls for you, get you on tour boats for snorkelling/diving and are happy to chat or give you your privacy - totally up to you. Makes you feel very welcome to be a guest in their home. The unit is completely separate, save for an inside stairwell leading to a locked door on the first floor and a doorbell for times when you need to ask them questions. They're very quick to respond. Be sure to take their kayak across to Moriah Harbour Cay. Next to the accomodations, this is the highlight of the visit. Sandbars, crystal clear water, and complete serenity. I left my cellphone behind and brought only a backpack to wander around this preserved cay - alone for the entire day. A modern day Robinson Crusoe! The beaches here are protected from wind and waves and you could easily spend several days wandering through the powdery sand. Be sure to look at Gail & Don's pictures and (soon to be) videos on the profile of Harbourview - they are very real and can be visited just a few paddles offshore. This is an ideal vacation spot for those looking to get away from reality but still have the same luxuries of being at home. Very quiet and relaxing. Great for couples, small families or people like me who visited alone to get some much needed R&R. A+ for everything - thanks again Gail and Don!
"Dream Palace"*****
"Exceeded My Expectations"*****
"After exploring by kayak, car, and foot, I can't imagine a better more central location upon this quaint little island. Thank goodness for the prompt and detailed directions provided by the owners as my plane was delayed and it was getting dark. Having reserved a car, I easily picked it up at the airport, stopped by the market, and then drove the solitary highway to an obscure turn off marking my destination. A warm greeting and a quick orientation, followed by a glass of wine, a cigar, and the breath-taking stars overhead - heaven! I chose this property not only for the location and price, but also because I would be able to use the owner's kayak - a two-seater, open Cayman model. I was able to sit and paddle hard when moving against wind or tide, or stand and use it like a paddle board when moving with the tide. Both ways allowed be great mobility in the shallow waters of the marine sanctuary which sits in view of the house. I really have no words that can capture the beauty and feelings that enveloped me while on the water. It was truly magical, and the only limits to my exploration were determined by the amount of daylight by which I could navigate. I simply didn't want it to end. I for one love the solitude, and believe me when I say I was alone! I did make it into town a few times. I even went to Stocking Island to play some volley-ball with a bunch of boaters - the regulars of the Chat and Chill bar area. Everyone I encountered was exceedingly friendly and gracious. I made many new friends. Great Exuma is not for everyone. It's not refined - its a little rough. It's not fast and exciting - its lay back and simple. It's not a clean and tidy island, but the charm shines through if you let it. If you are open to adventure, or you seek a tranquil setting from which you can rediscover nature and peace, this place is where you belong. Oh, and by the way, the cozy bed, big shower, TV / wi-fi, and the coffee maker were perfect at days end."
"In One Word..Fabulous" *****
"Beautiful view to wake up to, terrific veranda to eat, lounge and relax on. Spacious, clean and friendly, helpful hosts. Don and Gail are a wealth of information and always willing to assist. Kyaking and snorkling wonderful with barrier island to explore right off your door step. Would return in a heart beat, great for a "battery recharge". Bonnie and Rick"
