"Don and Gail were wonderful hosts! They were waiting for us when we arrived and they were available at any time throughout our trip to offer suggestions and assist in planning our day. Since they know Exuma so well, we followed their advice and made sure to hit the places they most recommended and we were not let down once. Upon arriving, they gave us a tour of the beautiful villa and they had a binder made that's full of various restaurants, beaches, tours, and even a map on how to get around the island. We took full advantage of their kayaks and snorkel gear and had a blast exploring Moriah Harbour. We knocked on their door every day and they always greeted us with a friendly smile and were more than willing to assist us and chat about our adventures. They even called guides and restaurants for us to find the best prices and book our reservations. We had an amazing Christmas on Exuma and would love to come back and visit someday! Thank you Don and Gail for such a memorable experience "
"Private apartment with spectacular ocean views."
"The apartment was spacious and private. Having access to the kayak and paddles was probably the best part of our stay. We kayaked nearly every day to Moriah Cay, only 10 minutes from shore. Once on the island, we had the entire cay to ourselves where we hiked and enjoyed incredible beaches and water views. Just amazing! The apartment is several miles from "bustling" Georgetown and the tourist areas. We appreciated that very much and enjoyed that the apartment was off the highway and in a very quiet neighborhood. Gail and Don are excellent hosts. Available if you need them, but not intrusive at all. Great value for the money."

Thank you so much for such a wonderful vacation. It would not have been possible without your guidance and hospitality! You are both exceptional people. We will keep in touch so we can make plans to come back again soon. It is truely paradise here. I never imagined how unbelieveably beautiful your private beach could be. Thank you.
"Better than I could have ever dreamed!"
As I hesitantly write this review, mostly b/c I don't want the secret to be out, I am flying back to atlanta. My wife and I just spent our seventeen wedding anniversary with Don and Gail at their lovely home in Hartswell, Great Exuma, The Bahamas. First note of reflection is how nice everyone was from the grocery store clerks to the gas station attendant. The attitude of the people is genuine and sincere. The trip did start with some excitement. The first two days we went through three rental cars. The first overheated b/c of radiator leak and the second lost power steering. The folks at Thompson's were very agreeable and even delivered a replacement each time without delay. Note to future travelers the rentals cars are Japanese models all over ten years old. Kilometers ranged from ~ 70,000 to ~ 120,000 so they're all pretty beat up compared to us standards. Learning to instantly drive on the left was no big deal as I had feared. Lastly, on driving I'd recommend renting a Jeep as the off roads (especially to Tropic of Cancer beach) are very bad. Regarding food options. Gail and Don's apartment provides a full size frig and cooking accessories enough to prepare meals. You do need to be creative and organized with limited kitchen space but with the use of their bbq grill we pulled off some incredible dinners. One meal was fresh (some bones included) caught Grouper sourced from the beauty parlor in George Town across from the gas station. There sits a help-yourself cooler next to the cash register plumb full of fish and lobster. The other great meal we prepared was a grade Prime cut filet mignon sourced from Prime Meats and Deli. Tasted unlike anything available in the States. Was really tender and the butchers seasoning was amazing. We did make it to the far Eastern end of the island to visit Santana's. The lobster was cooked with some sort of sweetness maybe coconut milk? I loved it. Wife thought it was too sweet. I'd say it was the second best meal we had with the first - believe it or not - was at the airport as we were waiting for our return flight. We had beef stew with veg and baked chicken with baked mac and cheese. We did go "out" one night for dinner which will run you ~ $100+ dollars no matter where you go. We chose the newly opened resort Turquoise Bay with by far the best lobster bisque I've ever had. They serve it as an entrée. It's creamy and thick enough with so much meat you can stand a spoon in it. The setting at Turquoise Bay is a South Beach Miami vibe with a spectacular swimmable grotto full of fish. Really cool. The grocery store in George Town is not a Publix so don't expect us style choices. As a matter of fact you may or may not get bread, milk, eggs, fresh veg or other items depending on the time of day and if it's one of the two days they get deliveries. This is where creativity, planning and knowing a few local purveyors is helpful. Also, expect to pay double for everything because of the import duties imposed. Now for the best, Don and Gail. Their knowledge is invaluable. We could have never learned so much so quickly without their guidance. They provided the perfect situation all the way around. My wife and I had our own bathrooms, we were able to cook in the room and their top level apartment is very spacious. The elevated view of Moriah Cay is beyond words or even pictures. To wake up in the morning with the screened windows wide open, to see the ocean and to hear the ocean is breathtaking. With the vaulted ceiling and many ceiling fans the ocean breeze kept us cool and comfortable. The best of the best was when Don toted us across the bay to a completely secluded, private and uninhabited island. You can walk the beach for miles. The first time we kayaked ourselves and next time b/c of choppy waters Don took us in his runabout. Either way, trip is maybe ten to fifteen minutes. If you want complete seclusion I told Don and Gail they should make this mandatory. We will go back to Exuma and stay with Don and Gail just to go back to that island. It's as close to heaven as I've been. Finally, don't go to Exuma and especially don't stay with Don and Gail as I want it to always be available to me and my wife
"Just as good the second time" *****
This was our second stay at Harbour View and it did not disappoint. Don and Gail were great host and helped us out right away by scheduling a tour for us. It turned out to be one of our trip highlights. They are always available to ask questions and help out but never imposing. We had an air conditioner working intermittingly and Don had it fixed the very next morning (although didn't really need it). But this shows the kind of host they are. They are there to make your stay a great one. The view is incredible and the house is well situated for exploring the island. They gave us a new recommendation for a restaurant and it was so good we ate there three out of eight days. Their recommendations are spot on - honest yet leaving you the guest to make your own conclusion. I cannot say enough good things about this property and it's owners. Also, the humming bird babies in the nest were a rare treat.
"Couldn't have been better! 5*****"
This is a unique retreat in a heavenly setting, looking over Moriah Cay, with spectacular views of turquoise, cobalt, lazuli, every-shade-of-aqua waters, and remote cays. Every detail of the apartment is as described and the hosts more than gracious. We loved exploring Exuma, a sort of unspoiled piece of paradise. Especially loved kayaking over to the cays, enjoying deserted beaches, and swimming in crystal clear, lovely waters. Tremendous value and no disappointments -- many unexpected pleasures!
"Perfect home to enjoy this paradise." *****
It was a marvelous house which has exceeded our expectations, both Don and Gail are lovely and will advise you of everything to make your stay perfect. Dinners on the wonderful terrace are incredible. Definitely a home to return to.Take care of our conch! Thanks for all.
"An amazing all round experience." 5 *****
We were in Exuma as part of a large group to celebrate a friends 50th birthday in March and as soon as we saw the pictures and read the reviews from Harbour View we immediately said "that's the place for us". The reality often fails to meet expectation but in this case it far exceeded what we anticipated. The apartment was amazing, the views of the water were brilliant and as hosts, Don and Gail went far above and beyond. We definitely had the best room on the island. I felt at times like they were worried they couldn't do enough for us! I was unwell for a couple of days and they both went out of their way to ensure that I recovered quickly to enjoy our time there. I seriously cannot recommend their hospitality and the accommodation highly enough. If Exuma is the island for you then Harbour View is where you want to stay. As long as I'm not looking to stay there when you want to go.
