"Peaceful Experience" 5 *****
A week's stay in Exuma provided exactly the much needed peace and relaxation we so desperately needed. Gail and Don were terrific hosts, offering suggestions and making arrangements for trips and meals to ensure that we made the most of our trip. Harbour View is easy to find -- especially with Don's excellent directions, and is located about a 20 minute drive from town. The views from the upstairs apartment truly are beautiful and the stars at night are just breathtaking. The one bedroom is perfect for couples who enjoy being out and about during the day and who appreciate quiet evenings. During our trip, we made use of the kayak (thanks to Don's instructions), visited private beaches, met amazing people, and enjoyed the Bahamian lifestyle. Based upon Don and Gail's advice, we dined at (and loved) Tropic Breeze, Santana's and Peace and Plenty. I do recommend that if you are in need of a few food items/beverages that you visit Sheila's little convenience store which is within walking distance from Harbour View. This was an amazing trip that we will not soon forget!
"Paradise Found" ***** "
My husband and I stayed at Harbour view for the best 9 days of my adult life. My husband planned the trip and I went into it with no expectations to avoid disappointment but even if I would have set my expectations as high as possible, this vacation would have exceeded them. We had a rough travel day, so finally arriving on the island and getting our first glimpse of the most saturated turquoise water we had ever seen, sinking our tired feet into the white powdery sand, while feeling the warm tropical breeze on our skin, set all the stress of the day far, far behind us. We rented a car to explore the island, which is absolutely recommended. There is so much to see, so a car is a must. Adjusting to driving on the opposite side of the road was an adventure straight out of the gate, but provided some good laughs. When we arrived at Harbour View, which was less than 30 minutes from the airport, we were greeted with 2 warm smiles from Don & Gail. I knew instantly that they were kind and genuine folks, which was comforting. They made us feel right at home and gave us the best advice when we asked all throughout our stay. The room is lovely. You can't beat the view from the bed. It was incredible waking up to a view of the Mariah Harbour Cay every morning. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the shower. We enjoyed many evenings on the lovely spacious deck as well. If you're worried about what to do and how to navigate the island, if you stay at Harbour View, scratch that off the things-to-worry-about list, because Don has created the Holy Grail of information about the island in the form of a binder full of restaurant suggestions, beaches & maps of how to get to everything. It was invaluable. We didn't leave the house without it. Don and Gail are also there whenever you have questions about anything. You only see or hear them when you need them. I don't know how they did it but we felt totally secluded and alone but with one ring of a bell, they were right there with loads of great information. We really appreciated that. The best part about Harbour View were the kayaks. Don loans them out for you to kayak and explore The Moriah Harbour Cay. It was our first time kayaking and we LOVED it! It will certainly not be the last time. We chose to explore the Cay 3 days out of the 9. Let me tell ya... It. Is. Beautiful. We visited 8 beaches along the island and the Moriah Harbour Cay was our favorite. And we didn't see one single person any of those days. We basically had the entire Cay to ourselves! Just us, some exotic birds, fish, a friendly lemon shark and a giant sting ray. lol. Another cool thing is that low tide and high tide create two completely unique environments. It's like visiting 2 separate places! At low tide, you can walk out into the middle of the water for what seems like miles! We had a blast all 3 days we spent exploring. Some of our other favorite beaches included Fort Beach and Tropic of Cancer Beach. Again, we didn't see one person on any of these beaches all week. We seriously felt like we were on a beautiful deserted island for most of the week! We swam with sea turtles at Hooper's Bay and hung out with some "tame" sting rays at Chat n' Chill on Stocking Island. Forbes Hill Beach was beautiful and gave a different feel with the rocky terrain overlooking the deep blue water. I found some amazing shells and conch shells at Satana's Beach after a delicious lunch of fried grouper at Santana's Restaurant, which has also been frequented by the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean in be past. We enjoyed taking in the incredible views from the salt monument as well. Our favorite place to eat was Tropic Breeze on Little Exuma. We went there twice, cause is was so delicious and the view is spectacular. All the restaurants are little open shacks with views that are second to none... pretty cool. But plan to spend a small fortune on food. It was at least $50 for the two of us everywhere we ate. Groceries are very expensive as well. $9 for apple juice! lol! We ate a lot of Ramen and bologna sandwiches, but when you're in such a beautiful place, even that tastes delicious. I could go on an on... This was the vacation of a lifetime. We had the absolute best time and I will hold all of the beautiful things I experienced close to my heart for a lifetime. The location was perfect, the scenery was breathtaking, our apartment was perfectly comfortable and felt like home and we had great hosts that provided great tips and advice so that we got the most out of our vacation. It was perfect. Thank you Don and Gail for letting us stay in your little piece of paradise. It was an experience we will never forget. Angie & Waine
"Beautiful quiet location with wonderful views *****"

This is the third time my wife and I have visited 'Harbour View' and for good reason, this is truly a unique location for a holiday with a stunning views right from your bedroom window and access to some fabulous beaches. If you want a quiet, 'get away from it all' experience you've found the right place. To fully appreciate Exuma it's necessary to rent a car as your location is fairly remote, we've used Thompson's each time and have been pleased with their service - no hassles and reliability each time. This allows you to visit the various lovely beaches that the island has to offer and of course to pick up supplies when needed from the Georgetown supermarket. Our teenage kids accompanied us for the first time and we spent many occasions together snorkeling in different locations being witness to so much of the undersea life that this part of the world has to offer. Sting Rays, barracudas, Moray eels, turtles, lobsters, a nurse shark and of course too many different types of colorful fish to describe. Alas no dolphin this time but not to worry as it just gives us an excuse to return! After this experience we're going to have to look at scuba lessons……..A highlight of any visit should be a kayak trip to the nearby Moriah Cay or Man O' War Cay, there are two tandem kayaks available to use and it's only a short distance away to either one of these islands from Harbour View, bring a pack lunch with you and a bunch of sunscreen! These Cays are both uninhabited and gorgeous, deserted beaches with turquoise water will take your breath away. Renting a small boat from Minns Watersports to visit the islands surrounding Elizabeth Harbour is highly recommended also, again many lovely beaches small and large to experience and the added bonus of Chat N Chill's on Stocking Island - great burger shack not to be missed! And of course Don and Gail Amesbury, your hosts living downstairs, wonderful people and long term residents of Exuma who have extensive knowledge of the island, always ready to offer suggestions for activities but also respectful of your privacy. we can't wait to go back!
"Great Location with Stunning Views"
Perfect accommodation for a couple that are comfortable in the islands. Located about 15 mins from Georgetown and 15 mins from Santana's overlooking the Maritime preserve. Don and Gail are the perfect hosts, easy to deal with and available to help one with whatever assistance you can reasonably need. Must do's include eating the lobster at Santana's, the turtles at Hoopers Bay and kayaking over to Moriah Cay.
Don and Gail were excellent hosts who warmly welcomed us after a long tiring travel day. The room set aside for us easily rivaled if not exceeded any hotel we could have found - very spacious and clean with kitchen and living room. They were also kind enough to arrange a speedboat tour and encouraged us to kayak across to a private beach, which was a fantastic experience. Great option if you're heading to the Exumas!
I Highly recommend Don and Gail's place!Harbor View is definitely a "one of a kind". Breath taking views in almost all conditions, Roomy bedroom with a North Facing window so that you can enjoy the natural beauty of Moriah Harbor all day long. Great bone fishing, and some much bigger fish than I expected to see in the Bahamas. Saw many fish in the double-digits. Light fishing pressure (just a couple of skiffs running around), Great trip for a small family and definitely for a couple who wants to be "off the grid". If you have a small group of friends who want to go go bonefishing, call Exuma Kiteboards and see what kind of a deal you can get on a multi day paddle board rental. He'll probably even deliver to you. Big fish on the north side of the island, Lots of small fish on the small side. Also, some huge lobsters live in the seawalls down by ManOWar Key. Definitely bring a net and tickle stick along. I didn't want to leave and I live in the Florida Keys. We will return!!! *****
Don and Gail were wonderful hosts! They were waiting for us when we arrived and they were available at any time throughout our trip to offer suggestions and assist in planning our day. Since they know Exuma so well, we followed their advice and made sure to hit the places they most recommended and we were not let down once. Upon arriving, they gave us a tour of the beautiful villa and they had a binder made that's full of various restaurants, beaches, tours, and even a map on how to get around the island. We took full advantage of their kayaks and snorkel gear and had a blast exploring Moriah Harbour. We knocked on their door every day and they always greeted us with a friendly smile and were more than willing to assist us and chat about our adventures. They even called guides and restaurants for us to find the best prices and book our reservations. We had an amazing Christmas on Exuma and would love to come back and visit someday! Thank you Don and Gail for such a memorable experience :)

Great hosts! We had a wonderful time at Harbour View. We loved all of the insider tips and the amazing vista from the deck. Great hospitality.
