"Home Away from Home"
This was our first trip to the Bahamas together. We really did not know what to expect. We flew to Georgetown on Delta from Atlanta. Upon our arrival the view from the plane was incredible and created an excitement we could hardly contain. Don, the owner of Harbour View suggested we rent a car. Hindsight proved that to be great advice! We rented from Thompsons across the street from the airport. Our reservations for our stay was at the same place for the entire time. Which made it all the more important to be at a place we were happy to be. Once we found the home after figuring out how to drive on the opposite side of the road from what we're used to and guessing how to translate kilometers to mph; upon our arrival to Harbour View we were greeted by Don. Don and his wife(Gail wasn't there during our visit, but was part of the process to make our trip happen!) were more than accommodating to all our needs. They provide so many little things that you may have forgotten. Bug spray is one of the things we didn't think about. They also have kayaks that they allowed us to use. Which we took full advantage of. The islands near by are great to explore, a lot of sea life to see. They also have a folder made up that tells you of all the local attractions. Which is extremely helpful, because otherwise they would be difficult to get information about them. Harbour View is quite a drive from the airport and a good distance from Georgetown (14 KM) Our advice to the next people traveling to stay at Harbour View is to pack snacks and food in your checked luggage. Harbor View provides a toaster oven, microwave and hot plate. Eating out is expensive and at the right places so worth it! The food portions are large and to save money we shared meals and were still quite satisfied. Not only do Don&Gail provide a folder with sight seeing ideas, they also do their best to be available to answer any questions you may have. During our trip Don&Gail were spending time with their family and celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, but they left us in great hands with Larry & Joan. They also pointed us the right direction on what to do and how to get to different places...there is a lot of thick growth of plants and If you don't know where you're going it can be difficult to find the beaches. Overall our trip was amazing! Not only was our stay at the same place a good choice, but I don't think there would be another place on the island where the hosts would be more helpful!!
"Dream Vacation in Ideal Rental"
"My husband and I were absolutely delighted with our stay at Harbour View Villa in Hartswell, Exuma. This was our first trip to the Bahamas, and our trip exceeded every one of our expectations. Exuma itself is such a darling slice of paradise. We've rarely found a tropical destination that felt as safe and as friendly to visit, and that was such a breeze to navigate. We lucked out by staying with Don and Gail at Harbour View. Their beautiful house was exactly as described and photographed (only, I'd argue, even more lovely - and the views even more spectacular - in person). I could barely tear myself away from the amazing water view, and happily spent most days drinking it in on the lovely balcony and super comfortable deck chairs. The suite was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. We actually self-catered almost all our meals and found we had everything we needed (full size fridge, BBQ, induction hot plate, and new Cuisinart convection toaster oven). As a couple in our 30's, we had all the privacy we desired in a vacation rental, but with Don and Gail still within easy reach if we had any questions. The process of booking the rental was a breeze, and Don was fast to respond to any questions via email prior to our arrival. Once in Exuma, Don and Gail went out of their way to help us get the most out of our vacation. Don helped us to organize a car for the second half of our stay and also helped us book a boat tour that took us through the Exuma cays. Don and Gail's advice and assistance was invaluable. We loved kayaking over to the nearby cays, grabbing a bite to eat at Tropic Breeze restaurant, and of course our boat trip to see the swimming pigs, nurse sharks and iguanas. My favourite beach would have to be the stunning Tropic of Cancer beach - definitely worth a visit. We couldn't have been happier with our trip to Exuma and our stay at Harbour View. We'd recommend it without hesitation to any of our friends and family, and we'd return in a heartbeat! "
"Dreams are made of Sun and Sand..."

And Harbour View! The Exuma's are truly paradise. If you are looking for beautiful scenery and wonderful genuine people, than look no further. Harbour View, with hosts Don and Gail provides it all. We could not be happier with our vacation choice and we also had a dream wedding, which was all possible due to efforts of Don and Gail which went above and beyond. We are so grateful for all they did to make our special day absolutely perfect. We loved the location of Harbour View, so quiet and peaceful with scenic views that almost seem unreal. The house is exactly as advertised, spacious and homey, with all the amenities you could need. We made full use of everything except the air conditioning as there was a great breeze all week. We kayaked over to Moriah Cay twice and both times we were in awe of the untouched landscape and the most beautiful turquoise water and white sand. We were fortunate to encounter some sea life including stingrays and lemon sharks. We did rent a car for the week which a necessity for exploring the island. We ate in some evenings and ventured out for the local fare as well. We tried Shirley's, Tropic Breeze and Santana's all of which were suggested by Don and Gail. The food and personal service at each restaurant did not disappoint. We also grilled ribeye steaks and chicken from Prime Island Meats and everything was terrific. I would highly recommend stopping here! Besides Moriah Cay, we visited Pretty Molly Bay, Stocking Island and even found time for a round of golf. With six holes along the ocean, this is the most scenic golf course you could ever imagine. We will treasure our trip to Great Exuma not just for the memories but for the kind and gracious hospitality we received from Don and Gail. This place is a gem in a serene paradise and we hope to return in the future.
"5 stars"
Wonderful experience to Exuma. Large apartment with views of Moriah Cay, one of the most beautiful lagoons that we have ever seen where you arrive with a few minutes of easy Kayak, made available by Don, where at low tide you can walk forever tens of meters with the ' very low water. In the morning we had breakfast on the terrace, then it saw that the apartment has an equipped kitchen, we were preparing the lunch and then we brought with us to Moriah Cay and did the picnic on the beach in peace and quiet with only the sound of the sea. What more? Don and Gail two very exquisite, very unobtrusive but available if needed. Very useful guidance from them prepared in this room with all conceivable information about the island, much more detailed than a tour guide. Large bathroom with shower and wifi in the room, outside space to park the car. Absolutely recommended.
"Not Much More Can be Said*****"
"There is not much more that can be said about Harbour View Vacation Rental that has not already been said before. One of the main reasons for selecting Harbour View were the many positive reviews. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Don, who showed us around the unit. We were not disappointed, as it was very clean, just like the pictures. During our stay, Don was there to provide recommendations on places to eat, made phone calls to verify if places were open or closed, and even made reservations with Four C’s Adventures, so we could see the swimming pigs and iguanas! Don and Gail responded to initial inquiries right away and subsequent follow up questions leading up to our visit. They suggested bringing snacks with us, as these can be somewhat expensive in Exuma. For us, the kitchenette in the rental unit worked out great. We purchased a few things at the local grocery store(s) for breakfast and usually had a late afternoon lunch/dinner. We also used the hot plate a couple of times for a late night snack. Note to future quests – you need to place one of the pans (provided by Don and Gail) on the hot plate, before it will turn on. This will prevent you from having to ask Don for help, for something so simple! Our recommendations for places to eat include Shirley’s, Santana’s and Splash Beach Bar. All had great food for the non seafood eaters like us. One of the other reasons to stay at Harbour View was the chance to explore Moriah Cay. The views were spectacular and the only foot prints were ours. Pictures just do not show the real beauty of this cay. Thanks to Don and Gail for allowing guests to use their kayak to get there, and for providing moral support as we ended up getting “lost” on our adventure. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Harbour View. Don and Gail’s hospitality was truly exceptional. Their assistance throughout our stay really made a difference. You will not be disappointed."
Assolutamente consigliato.
Don and Gail have an incredibly beautiful home (we will miss waking up to those views every day!!!) that is in a perfect location on the island. This was our 2nd trip to Exuma and the accessibility to explore Moriah Cay and the surrounding cays with their kayak makes the location of their home one of the best on the island. They have thought of everything in terms of what you might need during your stay (i.e. we had everything we needed to cook meals for a couple evenings in), and provided any info we needed prior to our trip. You are not too far from Georgetown and close to some great restaurants and beaches (make sure to try the lobster poppers at Tropic Breeze!). Don & Gail have so much helpful info to offer and are such kind and lovely people! We will, without question, be back next year. Exuma is an unspoilt paradise and we couldn't imagining vacationing anywhere else!
" Best View on the Island"
What more can you say?!? Harbour View was everything promised and more. We were speechless when we first arrived and saw the view from our balcony and bedroom. We have traveled the Caribbean extensively and have never seen anything like it! Kayaking to Moriah Cay was a fabulous experience. We were truly the only people on the most pristine beaches and sandbars. The home was lovely and our suite was great. There are two very large bathrooms which was wonderful having our college age daughter with us. Our bedroom was spacious with a large walk-in closet. The kitchenette was well supplied and convenient for breakfast and lunch. We had dinners throughout the island based on Gail's suggestions, which were excellent. Santana's was a favorite and his mother's bakery next door, amazing! Gail was so gracious and helpful with all of her suggestions. She also taught us some history of the island which was very interesting. We spent the day boating and swimming with the pigs, turtles, sharks, sting ray, iguanas, and even a few dolphins with Sugar's two sons. It's a long day in the sun but a must do! We felt very well taken care of. We explored nearly every beach on the island during our stay (a car is a must). They are all beautiful but Cocoplum at low tide was our favorite. A day trip to Stocking Island is a must as well. Don was away with family in Florida during our stay but just from our correspondence you could tell he is a class act just like his wife. He provided us with such detailed information prior to our visit that we felt like we had been there before. Our flight was cancelled and we arrived a day late. Don took care of calling our car rental company for us and offered to get us groceries. He is a kind, generous man. We arrived on a Sunday so a word to the wise is almost everything except Peace and Plenty in Georgetown at 6:30pm) is closed so plan accordingly. The remainder of the week, there is a grocery store and nice bank just a short drive away in Georgetown. In summary, we made an excellent choice for our 20th anniversary and we will defintely be back..
